The 2010 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Limited is a Gem

Were in an extended recession and consumer spending is hesitant. No one wants to throw their money away. Very few people are out there buying pricey toys on a whim. But that doesnt mean that the best of the best arent selling like hotcakes. There will always be a market for the very best clothes, the very best vacations and the very best motorcycle if they offer value to go along with the price tag.

Harley-Davidsons best selling model is its Electra Glide Ultra Limited luxury-tourer. Thats their most expensive model, other than their Custom Vehicle Operations line. With a price tag of over $20K, why are these bikes selling so well? Because theyre worth it.

The newly upgraded Electra Glide Ultra Limited is a luxury motorcycle with the polish to match. The bike weighs in at a hefty 900 pounds, which is a little unwieldy in the parking lot, but a dream on the open road. The 2009 TC96 engine has been replaced this year by the 103-inch Twim Cam that used to power the Custom Vehicle Operations bikes. This adds about 10% to the torque.

The 2009 model already boasted luxuries like cruise control and adjustable wind deflectors. The 80-watt audio system by Harmon/Kardon includes CD/MP3, CB and intercom functionality. The effect is much like what youd hear in a luxury car. The new 2010 model ups the comfort with heated grips, a self-arming security system and a full size rack on the large topcase. Of course the topcase has liners for its three luggage components, and a 12-volt power supply and accessory plug. The saddle padding backrest for both driver and passenger and large wrap-around makes for a comfy ride, even on long trips. The cockpit has been redesigned with titanium-colored faces and larger numerals, lit up by LEDs. A power adapter allows you to charge your cell phone or run a GPS device. Chrome 28-spoke wheels and LED light strips ensure that your shiny new motorcycle will get noticed. If youre prepared to spend an extra $1,200, you can get the beautiful two-tone custom color option.

The new frame introduced in the 2009 model improves handling quality considerably. In fact, this new version handles better than Harleys reputation would lead you to believe.

With all this expensive luxury, there is one thing that will make your wallet smile. The six gallon gas tank is pretty cheap to fill. The rest, however, is for those who love their motorcycles and are willing to pay for them. The price for a fully loaded 2010 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Limited is almost $25K. Motorcycle insurance will cost you a pretty penny too, especially if your driving record is anything less than spectacular.

All in all, this motorcycle is well worth it for anyone who really enjoys long road trips, or even just enjoying the comfort and luxury of a well built bike while commuting to work. While youre splurging on yourself, pick up one of Harley-Davidsons new jackets with a new reflective material that is visible at about 500 feet. After all, if youre going to ride a Harley like this, you might as well let everyone know it!
